The general objective of this project is to design and apply a training system for non-qualified workers from construction industry, in order to improve their mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology, keys to successfully follow up their training and hence their professional career.
The system will be organize in training modules based on Augmented Reality (AR), which is a live, direct or indirect, view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality.
The operative objectives are:
*To identify the training needs on key competencies of unskilled workers from the construction industry, by carrying out a field study in each participating country, whereby it will be set up which are the essential operations that are at the basis of key processes of building activities.
*To define training contents related to the training needs previously identified, making a definition of objectives, the development and sequencing of contents, modulation of the training system and the assessment section.
*To develop the software necessary for the implementation of the training system based on AR, which will allow the simulation of the basic operations of calculation and measurement applied to real productive processes from a building site.
*To carry out a pilot experience of training with unskilled workers that will try the training system.
*To disseminate the project among educational administrations, training centers, building companies, etc., both nationally and internationally.
The working methodology will carry on with working groups will set up the key competencies that are at the basis of the main productive processes associated with refurbishment activities.
Once the competencies have been defined and associated procedures selected, it will be time for writing the training units in terms of learning outcomes.
With well defined learning outcomes, the next step will be to develop the training system, applying media resources based on AR to different selected content.
Finally, the entire system will be tested through carrying out a real training pilot experience, which will try to validate the product from a technical and pedagogical point of view.
The workpackages of the Project are:
WP1: Initial planning and overall management of the project.
WP2: Identification of the most common refurbishment processes
WP3: Identification of key competences that are at the basis of the refurbishment processes.
WP4: Definition of training units in terms of learning outcomes
WP5: Development of technological support
WP6: Development and implementation of the system of instruction
WP7: Valorization of results and sustainability
WP8: Diffusion and communication of the project
The final application will be available for using on tablets and/or smartphones after downloading from markets such as Google Play (ANDROID) or Apple Store (APPLE).
